Beginner Lessons

If you're reading this, you're probably already using a book from the Hal Leonard Guitar Method. Using our new G-Plus Lesson format, we've combined the printed lessons in your book with the accompanying audio tracks and added exclusive video instruction, to create the most comprehensive beginner guitar lessons on the Web. We call these lessons our Traditional Method, and it's all accessible with a G-PASS subscription.

In addition to the Traditional Method, we offer five other very specialized Beginner Lesson learning paths. Whether you're learning on electric guitar, acoustic guitar, classical style, standard notation, or exclusively via guitar tab, we've got something for you. Just starting to learn chords? Check out our Open Chords video lesson. Already past that and now need extra work on getting your barre chords down? We've got a Barre Chords lesson, too. Or maybe you're ready for Lead Guitar Basics or just want to learn how to Tune by Ear.

Learn Songs!

Learning how to play your favorite songs is typically the #1 reason people learn to play guitar. At GuitarInstructor.com, we provide you with several ways to learn easy-to-play songs for beginners.

Video Song Lessons

The video song lessons at GuitarInstructor.com are the most accurate on the Web and are easily our most popular offering. From classics by the Beatles and The Who to modern hits by Foo Fighters and Adele, we've got nearly 100 video song lessons targeted at beginner and advanced beginner guitarists.

For an even more complete learning experience, our new G-Plus Song lessons combine guitar tab, audio backing track, and video instruction into one comprehensive lesson. Choose from songs by Eric Clapton, KISS, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and more.

Guitar Chord Songs

Perhaps the most common format is the Guitar Chord Song, or "Chords & Lyrics" sheets. These arrangements contain the song's lyrics along with chord symbols so you can strum and sing along.

For beginners, some of our most popular Guitar Chord Songs are those that contain only three or four chords. Although that may sound limiting on its face, some of the greatest songs in music history fall into this category—songs like "Love Me Do" by the Beatles, "Gloria" by the Doors, "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley, "Tumbling Dice" by the Rolling Stones, and "Cecilia" by Simon & Garfunkel.

If you prefer to stick to acoustic guitar three-chord songs, you can choose from classic tracks like "Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty, "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash, or the must-know "Margaritaville" by Jimmy Buffett.

Easy Guitar Tab

In addition to our Guitar Chord Songs, we've also got nearly 2,500 easy guitar tab sheets from Hal Leonard, ranging from legendary acts like the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Neil Young to today's top artists, including Adele, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and Coldplay.

Easy Guitar Tab provides the songs lyrics, guitar chords, and the song melody in notation and tablature. It's a fantastic tool not only for learning your favorite songs but also for getting comfortable reading guitar tablature.
